The US House Foreign Affairs Committee came down heavily on The New York Times for the way it covered the April 22 terror strike in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which killed 26 individuals—tourists for the most part—in which the committee took umbrage with the NYT’s adoption of the term “militants” rather than “terrorists” as its headline and posted a revised version, deeming the strike “a TERRORIST ATTACK plain and simple.”
The NYT news report “At Least 24 Tourists Gunned Down by Militants in Kashmir” quoted Prime Minister Modi as calling it a terror attack and promising justice.
US President Donald Trump also denounced the attack, expressing full support to India. The three terrorists who carried out the attack—Adil Hussain Thoker, Hashim Musa (also known as Suleiman), and Ali Bhai (also known as Talha Bhai)—are still on the run, with police offering a ₹20 lakh reward for information.
PM Modi, addressing Bihar, promised to chase the attackers and their sponsors relentlessly and assured that terrorism would never shatter India’s resolve.
