Ahead of Akshaya Tritiya, Swiggy Instamart made headlines by announcing it would deliver gold along with regular groceries and essentials. The unique offering, backed by tight security, quickly caught the attention of social media users.
Several viral videos showed Swiggy delivery partners navigating traffic with a security guard riding along. One clip showed a guard holding a secure locker and a stick while riding pillion, amusing and surprising viewers online.
One Instagram user voiced the confusion with, “What is happening?” Swiggy responded humorously, “Real gold delivery karne ke liye real security chahiye bro.” As more users reacted, Swiggy joined in the fun, resharing videos and adding witty captions like “Delivering sona in every kona kona” to highlight their nationwide service.
Swiggy confirmed they were partnering with Kalyan Jewellers to deliver hallmarked and certified gold and silver coins in various sizes—0.5g and 1g gold, and 5g, 10g, and 20g silver coins—directly to customers within minutes.
Swiggy Instamart CEO Amitesh Jha said the initiative aims to make festive shopping more convenient, allowing people to buy trusted, certified gold and silver as easily as groceries.
