Union Minister Nitin Gadkari stressed the importance of education for the upliftment of Muslims, pointing out that many in the community are engaged in occupations like running tea stalls, paan shops, scrap dealing, truck driving, and cleaning. Speaking at the convocation of the Central India Group of Institutions in Nagpur, he urged the community to focus on becoming engineers, doctors, and civil servants, emphasizing that progress comes through science and technology, not just religious devotion.
Gadkari reiterated that no one should face discrimination based on caste, religion, language, or gender. He strongly condemned caste-based politics, saying he believes a person’s worth is defined by their qualities rather than their background. Reflecting on his political journey, he stated that he remains committed to his principles, regardless of electoral outcomes.
He also recalled supporting a Muslim educational institution in establishing an engineering college, despite facing criticism. Citing former President APJ Abdul Kalam as an example, Gadkari emphasized that true greatness comes from rising above caste, religion, and other social divisions.
